No matter how complex cameras become, they cannot make the photograph. take for instance, fashion photography. Yes, the sets and makeup are there, but the photographerr had some say in the overall design.
wildlife photography, on the other hand, is all about the photographe. The6 photographer has to know when and where his subject will be. he has to know how to position and conceal himself. It is he that makes the decisions as to what piece of equipment will do the job.
The photojournalist has to look at the human side of every photograph he takes. A digital camera, no matter how sophisticated, cannot know what will bring out the emotion of an audience. Likewise, a sports photographer has to have the instinct to catch that perfect moment of an event.
In short, the camera has very little to do with how good a picture is. A bad photograph can be taken with a$10,000 camera. A great photo, however, can be produced using a $10 "throw away."
References :
You are SO right about patience. My ex was a photographer for Sears Portrait Studio all along the West Coast, he was really good. He said the same thing. Patience. Especially for kids/pet pix. You also have to have a good eye with lighting. Different faces and races need different lighting, to catch the contours just right. No, I don't think that "people" who take pix are in jeopardy of losing their jobs to machines. People have a special eye that a computer could NEVER have. So, don't worry hun. Your job will be secure. Good luck and have fun!
References :
you know the photographers so important. it depends on what the picture is being taken of. as far as fashion and modeling kind of stuff, your right... the hair and make up is there and then whats the photographers use? but i think of photography as art. a photographer has to be just as creative with their pictures as an artist does with his painting. you need to see things differently or more intensly then what the majority amount of people may see them. like if your taking pictures of nature or landscapes, when you see a paticular spot or angle or object that your drawn to and you take pictures of that through the way you see it. right there i think the picture doesn't matter nearly as much as who's taking it.
References :
its still very important to have a good photographer, no matter how advanced your photo editing software is, it cant recreate what was seen there in person like a camera can.
References :
I'd say pretty important. In certain controlled situations, such as a fashion shoot, the photographer has no big part, but for something like a wedding, two different photographers can take different shots that be completely different. For portrait shots, anyone can take those shots. I don't think people could have taken pictures like Ansel Adams did and done as well as he did.

I think in ways the need for a photographer is diminishing, but just like anything, there is a difference between "mass consumption" needs and "fine" or "high quality" needs. As a musician, I need to buy musical instruments. Walmart now sells instruments so that the public has easier access to learning music. I am not going to buy from there though, because the quality is nothing compared to buying high quality instruments.
If I want photos of friends and family, I'll just take them myself or get them from family members. When I got married, I got a professional photographer who took some incredible pictures. Sure, someone "unprofessional" could have gotten them, but he did such an incredible job and put them all in an album, it was well worth it.
References :
I don't think so. Some people just take great pictures. My wife and I could be taking the same picture and i swear her's always comes out better. She just seems to have a knack for cathing the right angle at the right time. That's really what make the photographer.
